Day 9 – Energy Drinks in Asia

Energy drinks are the post-night life blood for many diligent (and some procrastinating) students, but did you know that these drinks originated somewhere in Asia? Before we had Red Bull and Monster in the States, many Asian countries had these drinks in a medicine like glass bottles. The one on the picture is such an example, and many taxi drivers drink them during the late hours of the night.

The flavorings of these drinks are delicious and are readily available in drug stores and some vending machines. Unlike your $3 giant energy drinks you get at your U.S. convenience stores, these drinks are cheap. The one in the picture cost about 30 cents. Sure, they might not be as much in volume as the energy drinks in giant cans you can get in the states, but they are quite potent with the usual energy drink ingredients.
