A couple of months ago, I said that I was exploring an idea of publishing a one-man magazine, but I decided to scrap that idea for a couple of reasons. First, I did not have the time to organize and materialize the magazine. I needed to get the content, and then make up a layout to get things off the road. My school work has been keeping me busy lately, and I have been involved in various other extracurricular activities. Second, I truly did not know where I was going with the one-man magazine idea. Surely, the idea sounds exciting at a conceptual level, but practically it is meaningless unless I am able to get the idea rolling. Third, I had the opportunity to join another literary magazine called The Cold Side of the Pillow. This will be the Northwestern University student magazine, although there is another one on campus. Right now, The Cold Side of the Pillow is open for student submissions of various writings and art work via e-mail. We have been getting a good stream of personal works so far, and I think the first issue would be a full of creative content. The magazine staff has been loyal and dedicated to the project, so I think our good efforts will pay off on the first issue. My role in the magazine is the Tech Director, and I am mainly responsible for the magazine website. The header image does look a little silly right now (I could not find a good pillow picture, so I thought a random picture of a flower could have been a great substitute....), but the magazine has a web presence. Later on, I will be adding video clips of the magazine staff to give a little more dynamic presentation on the web-front. We might even sell copies of the first issue from the website! Who knows? More updates will come as the university faces finals week.

Announcements
I do a lot of reading for school and for personal enjoyment. In the coming weeks, I will feature some of the books that I am currently reading as I concentrate on writing less "Internet-related" topics. |
