I was an avid Starcraft player years back, and I still remember the days when I played against other people at Battle.Net. Well, it was a surprising announcement when Blizzard showed a demonstration of the impossible Starcraft II. Blizzard has been careful to release details in small increments, so if you go to StarCraft II official website, then you will notice the lack of information about the new game. We don't even know what the system requirements are to power up the new strategy game. Based on my little (and quite limited) observations from game play videos and screen shots, I have compiled some possible new features in the game. By looking at the battle scenes, everyone can say that the system will be all run under a 3D environment. This will probably give the game developers more flexibility in terms of adding details and effects as they design the game. Empire Earth, another strategy game by Sierra, also has a 3D environment, and there is no doubt that StarCraft II will have zoom-in feature, so that players can get a detailed look at the battle scenes. There will be new characters in the game like the Protoss' Immortal, but I am pretty sure that each race will balance out. Finally, Battle.Net will be overhauled for better multiplayer experience. (I hope they can take down those annoying chatbots.) There will be more details as StarCraft II continues to develop. It seems that Blizzard has a long road to go to as they admit that they are not quite in the stages to discuss even the basic aspect of the game. I wish them luck as I will be following their development closely.

Announcements
I do a lot of reading for school and for personal enjoyment. In the coming weeks, I will feature some of the books that I am currently reading as I concentrate on writing less "Internet-related" topics. |
